Accessibility Statement

Our Commitment
Seal Beach Grill is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe that every visitor deserves a full and equal experience, whether they use a screen reader, keyboard navigation, voice control, or any other assistive technology.
Conformance Status
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including those with visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive impairments.
This website has been developed with the following accessibility practices:
- All color combinations on this site meet or exceed the WCAG 2.1 AA minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text.
- All interactive elements (links, buttons) have a minimum touch target size of 44×44 pixels.
- A "Skip to main content" link is provided as the first focusable element on every page.
- All images include descriptive alt text, or are marked as decorative where appropriate.
- Navigation landmarks (
header, main, footer, nav) are used throughout to aid screen reader navigation. - All navigation elements include accessible labels distinguishing the main and footer navigation.
- The active page is indicated with
aria-current="page"in the navigation. - Animations and transitions are suppressed for users who prefer reduced motion (
prefers-reduced-motion). - The page language is declared as English (
lang="en"). - Hours of operation use semantic
<time>elements. - External links include screen-reader-only text indicating they open in a new tab.
- Restaurant data is provided in structured Schema.org JSON-LD for assistive technology and AI.
Known Limitations
The following known limitations exist on this site:
- Hero image background: The homepage features a photograph behind the hero text. While the text itself passes contrast requirements against the dark overlay, automated tools may flag this as "incomplete" because they cannot compute contrast against photographic backgrounds. We have manually verified these combinations.
- Google Maps embed: The embedded map on our Contact page is provided by Google Maps. Keyboard and screen reader accessibility within the map interface is controlled by Google. Visitors who need an alternative can use the "Get Directions" link which opens Google Maps in a new tab, or contact us directly.
Technical Approach
This website is a static site built with Astro and hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It uses no client-side JavaScript frameworks, no cookie banners, no advertising trackers, and no accessibility overlay widgets. We believe accessible HTML, semantic markup, and verified color contrast are more reliable than automated overlay solutions.
Accessibility has been verified using:
- axe-core 4.9 automated testing (zero violations on all public pages)
- Manual keyboard navigation testing
- Manual color contrast verification against WCAG 2.1 AA
